Incentivo respiratorio ¿debe seguir en uso? Revisión narrativa

Resumen
La terapia de incentivo respiratorio (IR) se prescribe frecuentemente como complemento de la rehabilitación pulmonar (RP). Aunque se sabe que este dispositivo carece de evidencia sólida que justifique su prescripción, es utilizado constantemente en la práctica clínica. Esto ha generado un uso inadecuado con malas prácticas que carecen de evidencia, por lo que se requiere un cambio de paradigma con respecto a su prescripción de rutina. En esta revisión narrativa, actualizamos la evidencia sobre la práctica del IR en diferentes afecciones pulmonares. Se describen, desde la evidencia científica, los efectos más importantes e impacto clínico. El IR orientado al flujo no genera efectos significativos. La terapia convencional parece ser suficiente en cuanto a la prevención y rehabilitación de las complicaciones pulmonares.
