Bullae in HIV Patient with Pneumocystis Jirovecii Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Main Article Content
Abstract
In patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Pneumocystis jirovecii (PJP) pneumonia, the prevalence of emphysematous lesions seen on imaging ranges from 10% to 34%. Their presence is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The aim of this report is to present a clinical case of an HIV-positive patient with PJP pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which progressed to bullae.
